February 28/29

I have lots of interesting photos from February 28 and February 29.

There are images from Carnival Night in 2014 and the Mardi Gras Parade in 2017, as well as photos of wildlife, plants and flowers from February 28 and 29.

February 27

There is little more serene than watching a beautiful sunrise to start your day.  It means, getting up a little earlier for most people, (I am usually up long before the sun rises.) but I can guarantee you won't be disappointed.  I usually head for Turtle Pond for 2 reasons.  First, there are few wires and utility poles in the way, and second, the water adds to the beauty because of reflections.  Don't worry about a few clouds because they add to sunrise and sunset photos as well!

The dove at the end built a nest in a hanging flower pot and didn't seem to mind me taking a few pictures.  I was driving along in a golf cart when a hawk flew up from the ground with something in its beak.  I pulled over in time to watch it eating it on a power line.

February 26

February 26

Usually, once a season, we rent a pontoon boat and take a ride around the Back Bay, then have lunch on the beach before heading back.  You don't need to guess whether I take pictures or not!  I always take LOTS!  I've included a few in today's album which you will find here - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=kbrucelanetravel&set=a.1737422703097357

You will also find photos of a variety of birds and a few plants today especially the northern cardinals and mourning doves.  The dove was nesting just outside a friend's door so I visited it a few times. I was lucky to get photos of an adult and 2 babies before heading home.

February 25

February 25

It was on this day last year that I photographed the Mardi Gras Parade and Pool Party.  What a difference a year makes!  Last February, there were very few cases of Covid 19 in the US and Canada, and this year we are hoping vaccines will help get the world back to normal!

Last year I divided my Mardi Gras Parade Photos into 3 separate albums and you can view them by clicking the links below:

February 24

February 24

On this day in 2017, I photographed the Mardi Gras Concert at the clubhouse.  The skits were funny and the other acts entertaining.  I am sure you will recognize most of the people, including Ken Horton who is back on but hard at work as always.

You'll also see photos of the sunrises, sunsets and wildlife that I photographed on February 24.
