American Robins

American Robins

Robins arrived back here last week and sing every morning before the sun rises. I really like the sound of them when I am up early. They are beautiful birds, but I haven't had a chance to get any photos yet this year, however, you can view photos of them in my Facebook Album here - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10157694085700329&type=3

The robins around here tend to be very skittish and I don't get a lot of photos of them even though they are always around my vegetable gardens looking for worms. :)

Red-bellied Woodpeckers

The only place I have photographed red-bellied woodpeckers has been in Florida, however, many people have photographed them on the island of Newfoundland. I guess I'll have to wait a while before they show up around here. :)

I am presently adding photos to my Red-bellied Woodpeckers Facebook album and you can follow it here -  https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10157488905895329&type=3

Abstracts

Abstracts

This morning I started a NEW Abstracts Album in which I will share photos I classify as abstract. These photos are not really minimalist but do not fit into any of the other categories of photos that I have online. When I first started taking photos back in the 60s and 70s, I used to shoot many photos that I considered abstract.

If you are interested here is one definition of Abstract Photography from Wikipedia - Abstract photography, sometimes called non-objective, experimental or conceptual photography, is a means of depicting a visual image that does not have an immediate association with the object world and that has been created through the use of photographic equipment, processes or materials. An abstract photograph may isolate a fragment of a natural scene in order to remove its inherent context from the viewer, it may be purposely staged to create a seemingly unreal appearance from real objects, or it may involve the use of color, light, shadow, texture, shape and/or form to convey a feeling, sensation or impression. The image may be produced using traditional photographic equipment like a camera, darkroom or computer, or it may be created without using a camera by directly manipulating film, paper or other photographic media, including digital presentations.

Below are links to both of my Abstract albums:

Night

Night

I was going through some old photos and came across several that I took at night. I did use a tripod for some of them, but most were handheld. I found them interesting and thought some of you would too! You can follow the Facebook  album here - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10163159597495329&type=3

Battle Harbour - Boats and Stages

Battle Harbour - Boats and Stages

While in Battle Harbour in 2004, I photographed many boats and stages and am adding them to a NEW album that I started today. I have shared most of these photos previously, but the images were small so I decided to revisit them and export larger images for your viewing pleasure. You can follow this album here - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.700317375431164&type=3

Battle Harbour - "Ghost Town"

My son and I affectionately called this section of Battle Harbour, "Ghost Town". We didn't see any ghosts, but walking among the abandoned buildings certainly felt like there should be ghosts there. The photos in this album were taken in 2004 and most, if not all, have been restored since then.
