Chance Cove

Chance Cove

In 2003, I photographed the town of Chance Cove twice.  First with my Olympus (2.1 Megapixel) camera and my new Canon 10D (6 Mp) that I received a week or so later. I took similar photos each time so I could compare the quality of each.

Today I started a NEW album featuring those photos of Chance Cove and at the end, I will add the photos I took a week or so ago.  If you are interested in the new Facebook album, you can follow it here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set?vanity=KBruceLanePhotography&set=a.1980382645435838

Women in the Fishery Quilt

Women in the Fishery Quilt

Nearly 20 years ago, a group of women from the Southern Avalon created the quilt shown above.  It shows the many roles that women played in the past.  Their days were long and filled with work!

This quilt is located in the Fisherman's Museum in St. Vincents.

Windmills

Windmills

We have so much wind here on the island of Newfoundland that I am surprised there are not more windmills situated in strategic locations around the province.  I photographed these in St. Lawrence on the Burin Peninsula.  Apparently, the nine windmills there can create enough electricity for the southern part of the peninsula.

Windmills create "green" energy and there will probably be more of them erected around the province in the future.

Iceberg Hunter

Iceberg Hunter

In 2003, I accompanied Captain Ed Kean of the Mottak, a few times as he collected pieces of icebergs for Iceberg Vodka.  I thoroughly enjoyed my trips to the icebergs in Conception Bay and I got some amazing photos of icebergs.

Today, I am sharing several photos of Captain Ed loading huge chunks of ice aboard his boat!  I just realized that these are small photos.  I'll have to resize them later and add to an album.  :)

Hopeall

Hopeall

Today's photos were taken in Hopeall, a tiny community in Trinity Bay, in 2003.  As I went through the photos, I remembered the small boats and fishing stages.  I did make another visit in 2015 and you can view all the photos here - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=KBruceLanePhotography&set=a.1976221539185282
