Little Harbour East

Little Harbour East

I decided to share photos of Little Bay East that were taken in 1999.  It's hard to believe that 20 years have passed by.  I imagine people from that area will notice lots of changes since then.  The photos were scanned from Kodachrome slides.

Feel free to share with family and friends.

Salmonier Nature Park 4

Salmonier Nature Park 4

After the otter, there were a few ducks in the lake, but no geese.  There were no snowshoe hare or red fox either.  The was an arctic fox.  If you look closely at the photos, you will see it has an injured ear.  Most, if not all the animals at Salmonier Nature Park end up there because they were injured or separated from parents.

I have started a new album in which I am sharing photos of the Salmonier Nature Park, but the album has photos taken over several years.

Salmonier Nature Park 3

Salmonier Nature Park 3

We saw two great-horned owls, but they were behind the trees so I didn't get a photo of them during this visit.  We didn't see a lynx, pine marten or groundhog, but we did see one peregrine falcon that was eating a mouse.  It was on the ground, so I was shooting down through a wire enclosure.  You can see the blood on its beak.  A bull moose was relaxing in the tall grass and I stopped for a while but didn't see another moose.

There haven't been otters in the park for a few years, so I was glad to see the enclosure was open.  The kids didn't see it, but I told them to watch the ripples.  The otter swam right over, stopped and checked us out, then disappeared under the shrubs along the shoreline.

Salmonier Nature Park 2

Salmonier Nature Park 2

Yesterday, I started a new series featuring photos of the Salmonier Nature Park.  Today, I am continuing the tour through the nature park.

I took several photos of the large stag as it rested in its enclosure.  I was able to photograph 2 more stags with large antlers before moving on.    You'll notice I photographed a variety of plants as well.  The signs instruct visitors to stay on the boardwalk so I use my zoom lens to get closer views.

Salmonier Nature Park

Salmonier Nature Park

Yesterday, I walked through the Salmonier Nature Park., which I try to do once a year.  The fall is a decent time to visit because it is cooler and the animals tend to be a little more active.  For the next few days, I will share the photos I took.  Today, I am sharing a couple of photos of a snowy owl, pitcher plants, as well as a few caribou.

Feel free to share with family and friends.

Tulips

Tulips Tulips are a sign of spring, but my tulip gardens are under a foot or two of snow. It will be a while before we see the beauty of the...
