Heart's Content 4

Heart's Content 4

Heart's Content is located in Trinity Bay South along the Baccalieu Trail.

Not too far from the SUF Hall that I shared photos of yesterday, I visited a small house/museum and photographed several "antiques" that were common many years ago.

As I drove through the community, I stopped to photograph the Society of United Fisherman building and there were two young women sitting in the doorway.  They invited me inside and I accepted their invitation and made a few images on the inside.

If you like visiting lighthouses, the one in Heart's Content is definitely worth checking out.  It is located at the end of the road on the north side of the harbour. When I took today's photos in 2003, it had been freshly painted and looked so good against the clear blue sky.

Heart's Content

Heart's Content

Heart's Content is located in Trinity Bay South along the Baccalieu Trail.

Today I am starting a new series featuring photos from Heart's Content that were taken in 2003.  Today I am sharing images of the outside of the Cable Station which  is a museum celebrating the first permanent telegraph cable connecting Europe and North America.  The quote below gives a little more detail.

"In July 1866, after nine years and several unsuccessful attempts, the first permanent telegraph cable connecting Europe and North America was hauled ashore at Heart's Content. The cable station is a time capsule of the communication technology that connected us all right up to the 1960's."
