Winter

 Winter

There is beauty all around us, even in the winter and today’s photos are examples of that.  It was early December after the first snow of the season, and I photographed frost and snow on trees, leaves and grasses.

Dogberries

Dogberries

I have photographed the  dogberries in my yard many times in all seasons, especially winter when there snow on the red berries.  These are the berries of the Showy Mountain Ash and there are many trees in and around my property.  During the winter these berries provide food for many species of birds.

Sunnyside

 Sunnyside

Sunnyside is a scenic community located in Trinity Bay.  It is just a short drive off the Trans Canada Highway and worth the trip in any season.

Sandhill Cranes

 Sandhill Cranes

When I saw a pair of sandhill cranes walking across a grassy area in Citrus Park, Florida I was pretty excited because I hadn’t had the opportunity to photograph this species before.  As usual, I approached the pair very slowly, but they didn’t appear to be bothered so I moved closer.  I was getting very close when the male looked up and walked toward me.  I shot a few close images until it seemed to tire of me and walked away.

I recently updated my Sandhill Cranes Gallery at:  http://www.lanephotography.com/birds/sandhill-cranes/sandhill-cranes.htm

Lilies

  Lilies

Today I decided to share a few macro images of lilies which you may find interesting.  The anthers are the pollen bearing parts located at the tip of the stamen.  They are particularly noticeable in lilies and, since they are fairly large, they are fairly easy to photograph.
