Bees

Bumblebees

I have been looking for bees all summer and saw very few until recently. I only saw a few when the dandelions and wild roses were in bloom. Over the last couple of weeks, there have been a few more, but this week, there are LOTS of small bumblebees visiting the knapweed in my yard. My sunflowers are ready to bloom and I hope to photograph them on those flowers (the photos are from last year).

I am adding the recent photos to my Bees 2022 Album on Facebook and you can view them here - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10162440943515329&type=3

Quaker House

Quaker House

Quaker House is a living museum located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. It is located on a busy street, but when you enter you are transferred back in time with people dressed in period costumes and a house full of items as it would have been back in the late 1700s and early 1800s. While there, I photographed many of the antique items as well as the people.

I am redoing my Quaker House album on Facebook and you can follow it here - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=kbrucelanetravel&set=a.561413089005464

Common Murres

Common Murres

While on a Whale and Puffin boat tour, I photographed huge flocks of common murres on one of the islands in the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve, located on the Avalon Peninsula on the island of Newfoundland. At first, I thought that there were too many to capture, but shot several photos anyway. One thing you cannot get from the photos is the sounds of so many birds in one place!

I have updated my Common Murres album on Facebook with the images I took and you can view it here - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=kbrucelane&set=a.10160100003775329

Bald Eagle

Bald Eagle

I photographed this immature bald eagle while on a boat tour in the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve. It was sitting on a cliff and decided to fly away while I was taking pictures of it. Bald eagles are large, majestic birds that are fairly common around the island of Newfoundland these days. There are a few near Holyrood, but the only time I see them is when they fly high overhead.

I have added these photos to my Bald Eagles Album on Facebook and you can view it here - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10159008557770329&type=3

Boats - Names

Boats - Names

Today, I finished uploading photos to my Boats - Names album on Facebook. I have been photographing boats with interesting names for quite a while and, after discussing with my brother who also photographs them, I decided to add the photos to an album. Some of the names are funny, others seem to be named after family members, and others are named for the fishing business.

After 100 images, I usually start a new album, so you can view the photos in my first album here - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10162326716815329&type=3

Red Currants

Red Currants

Yesterday, I took a few photos of my red currants before I picked them. I planted a small red currant bush near my home in 2010, a retirement gift from a friend, and each year I harvest more and more fruit. I make delicious red currant jelly from the berries.

I post photos to my Red Currant album on my Flowers and trees page that you can follow here - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.3538600396168085&type=3

Bonne Bay

Today, I added the last few photos of Bonne Bay to my album on Facebook. Feel free to check the images that I have taken over the years.

Bonne Bay is located in Gros Morne National Park on the Great Northern Peninsula on the island of Newfoundland. The scenery there is second to none and it is easy to explore.

You can view the album here - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=kbrucelane&set=a.10160777671950329
