Fisherman's Landing

Fisherman's Landing

Fisherman's Landing is a touristy place in Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia.  I've been there a couple of times and each time I think that this type of place would be excellent near the Festival Grounds in Holyrood.  I can imagine a number of shops along the edge of the water.   It would attract more people to the town.

If you would like to view more photos of this area, feel free to check my Facebook Album on my Travel Page:

Neddies Harbour

Neddies Harbour

The is a sideroad in Norris Point that turns into a tiny community called Neddies Harbour.  One morning, I decided to take that road and I am glad I did.  Photos looking across the harbour with Norris Point and the Tablelands in the background were great!

Yucca

Yucca

I have only seen the yucca plant during my visits to SW Florida.  I believe they are a form of cactus. They are interesting flowers that certainly stand out amongst the greenery!

The Parson's Property

The Parson's Property

I stopped to take photos of a barn in Freshwater, Conception Bay with all the "art" attached to its exterior.  As I was taking photos, the owners of the house invited me in and Mr. Parsons gave me the grand tour of all his artwork.

They were very nice to me and as I walked around taking pictures he explained why he had chosen the pieces and where they were.

I see another album in my future!

River

River

As I drive across the province, I see many rivers but this one near Terra Nova Park has prompted me to stop a few times to take photos of the river and small waterfall.  It is very beautiful.  I have a Rivers Album that you may enjoy:

Iceberg - Upper Island Cove

Iceberg - Upper Island Cove

In 2003, I photographed an iceberg from the cliffs around Upper Island Cove in Conception Bay.  the iceberg was certainly an interesting shape and as I photographed it, several boats came by for a closer look.  A whale even surfaced nearby!

It is interesting that I came across this photo today because I thought I had already uploaded an album of photos, but it looks like I'll have to start one.  :)

Bees on Rhododendrons

Bees on Rhododendrons

Several years ago, I moved a rhododendron from my old house to a new location behind my new house.  It has grown well and provides beautiful colours to the yard for a couple of weeks in early July.  Of course, bumblebees seem to love the flowers too!  I usually try to get a few photos of bees and other insects as they collect nectar and pollen.

The Acropolis

The Acropolis

In the fall of 2012, my wife and I did a 10 day Greek Islands cruise out of Venice.  One of the stops was in Athens and I did a tour of the Acropolis.  As you can imagine, I was excited to see a place I have read about many times.  I was anxious to take photos as well!!

The excursion included a guide who was relating the history through headsets.  I was happy we had an hour and a half on my own.  I was disappointed with all the cranes and other construction equipment everywhere but I did my best to hide them where I could.  You can easily see the crane in the last photo, but I did a good job of "hiding" it behind the columns.

American Goldfinch

American Goldfinch

A large flock of American Goldfinches comes here every day to feast on sunflower seeds.  Along with the blue jays, chickadees,  juncos, crows and evening grosbeaks, they add joy to my day.  Though we have been in self-isolation for 20 days, the birds that visit help us see the beauty around us.

Hopefully, people who are isolating themselves will see some beauty around them as well!

Tulips

Tulips Tulips are a sign of spring, but my tulip gardens are under a foot or two of snow. It will be a while before we see the beauty of the...
