Anhinga

Anhinga

The anhinga is one of the most common birds in Citrus Park (Bonita Terra), Florida.  It is also onee of the easiest to get photos of because when it catches a fish it usually takes it to the shore where it may be a challenge to swallow it.  I usually stay in my golf cart to keep the bird from getting nervous and use my zoom lens to get close views.

I have 2 Anhinga Albums on Facebook, one of which is dedicated to photos of Anhinga trying to swallow fish.

Murder of Crows

Murder of Crows

One morning, while walking through Citrus Park in Florida, a huge flock of crows flew by making a loud racket.  All of the birds flew to a tall tree nearby and I walked toward it with my camera in hand.  As I approached, they all took off at the same time, then flew away.  I liked it as they all left the tree - almost making a circular shape around the tree as they took off.

Impatiens

Impatiens

My wife purchased impatiens flowers a couple of years and found them to be very beautiful and prolific.  I have set up an album and will add to it throughout the summer. Feel free to check it and follow if you are a fan of these beauties.

Honeybee Swarm

Honeybee Swarm

One day, while walking the streets of Citrus Park in Florida, a friend called out to me and asked if I wanted to photograph a swarm of honeybees.  I took a few photos of them as they gathered around the queen while other individuals searched for a new place for a hive.  I went back the next day to get a few more, but they had moved to a new location.

If you like photos of honeybees, feel free to check both my albums:

Freshwater

Freshwater

I stopped to photograph the Parson's property in Freshwater, Conception Bay and the owners invited me in to photograph his "art"!   He took me around his property and explained how and why he liked displaying his lawn art.  The top 2 photos were taken in 1987 and the rest were taken in 2002.

I plan to start an album featuring all the photos I took that day.  Stay tuned!

Tangled Garden

Tangled Garden

I visited the Tangled Garden in Nova Scotia on two occasions and photographed the bottles of jams and jellies with sunlight shining through the bottles.

I have photos of plants and flowers in their yard as well.  You can view them in my Tangled Garden Album:

Razorbills

Razorbills

I was lucky to spot three razorbills on a cliff and took advantage of the situation and took several photos before they flew away.  These are the closest relative to the Great Auk, which used to be common in Newfoundland and Labrador but they have been extinct since the mid-19th century.

Tulips

Tulips Tulips are a sign of spring, but my tulip gardens are under a foot or two of snow. It will be a while before we see the beauty of the...
