Happy New Year

Happy New Year

Many of you are already into 2016 and Newfoundland will be the first in Eastern North America to celebrate the New Year.

For 2016 I wish the all people in the world will seek peace instead of war, love instead of hate, understanding instead of fear, and friends instead of enemies.

I photographed the fireworks in Holyrood in 1987.

Abstracts

Abstracts

What to send photos of this time of the year? That is the question. I have been scanning Abstract photos from 1988 and will share a few with you today.

The white window in the red barn caught my attention as I drove through Chapel's Cove. This barn is still there, though in recent years I notice it hasn't been maintained as well as in the past.

The old wagon was also photographed in Chapel's Cove. It was located on the west side of the lake in the community.

The artistic barn was located in Freshwater, Conception Bay. The next 4 photos were taken in Holyrood and the last in Forest Field/New Bridge area in St. Mary's Bay.

Sunset

Sunset
December 22, 2004

Today's photos show a beautiful sunset on December 22, 2004.

I remember stopping on the highway on my way home from work to make photos of the sun's rays breaking through the clouds.

When I worked, I carried my camera with me every day because I never knew when I would see photos. To be honest I stopped along the highway many times to make photos.

Christmas Eve Sunrise

Christmas Eve Sunrise
2004

Today's photos show a beautiful sunrise on December 24, 2004. I don't get to see many sunrises these days because my house is surrounded by trees and the sky isn't very visible. The beautiful colours of the early morning sun make interesting reflections off the clouds.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

I wish you all a Merry Christmas.

I really like the scene where Santa is setting up his Nativity Scene, and I also liked the one where Santa is praying to Baby Jesus. Each has an important message.

I hope you enjoyed this year's Nativity Scenes and if you are interested in reviewing them just go back through the last week of posts on my Blog.

Nativity Scenes 8

Nativity Scenes 8

I hope you have enjoyed this year's Nativity Scenes from Around the World Series. I tried to pick photos that I haven't shared in previous years, but no doubt there were several that you have seen before. However, I only share these photos a few days a year, so you probably don't mind seeing the images again.

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and enjoy the festivities of the season.

Nativity Scenes 7

Nativity Scenes 7

In this series you will see similarities in the way that artists around the world have chosen to depict the Christmas Story, and what Christmas is really about.

All photos were taken at the Basilica Museum during their annual Away in a Manger Exhibition.
