Random Passage 2
Today's photos from the
Random Passage Movie Set also make me think about what life was like for
the early settlers on the island of Newfoundland. The tiny outdoor
toilets scattered throughout the village are quite a contrast to the
bathrooms we have today. I remember visiting my grandparents in
Winterton, Trinity Bay and having to use an outhouse with an Eaton's
catalogue for toilet paper. That was the 1950's and they didn't have
electricity or running water there either. The early settlers didn't
have paper of any sort ... think about that!
The homes in Random Passage are
all made of logs with moss packed between them to keep the wind, rain and snow
out of their living quarters - much different than the well-insulated homes we
have today.
Like their homes, the tools they
had were also very basic. You will find more photos on my Blog today.
