Villefranche, France 6

Villefranche, France 6

I mentioned earlier in this series that we saw cafés everywhere we visited in Europe. Wherever there was room on a sidewalk for a table and chairs, there was a café. As it neared lunch time, the cafés began to fill with hungry customers wishing to experience the taste of French cuisine. Instead of eating, I wandered the narrow streets of Villefranch making photographs. The farther I got away from the main streets, the fewer people I saw.

Instead of lawns and trees, people in the old town had potted plants which provided "green spaces" along the streets. In one of the photos you can see lawn chairs on the side of the street. Even though there weren't any people, I can imagine sitting there in the evening enjoying a little peace and quiet, especially after the cruise ship and their passengers leave.
