Villefranche, France 11

Villefranche, France 11

Like yesterday, today's photos were taken inside the fort near the old town of Villefranche. Besides the windows and doors, the arches within the castle were very photogenic. When shooting into an archway that is in the shade, I normally focus and expose for the brightest part of the scene which causes the shaded area to be nearly black. If I expose for the darkest area of an image, the brighter areas will be overexposed making it too bright. I shared a couple more examples of this type of image yesterday.

You should be getting an idea of the types of architecture inside the fort. Most buildings are in excellent shape and, I suspect, not as they were when the forts were used to protect the town.
