Nassau 2

Nassau 2

I photographed a policeman directing traffic on an intersection not too far from the cruise port.  It reminded me of a "traffic cop" that used to be on the intersection of Prescott and Duckworth Streets in St. John's for many years.

We entered a place called The Straw Market where women were busy making items from straw and selling them.  We didn't stay long because every person was aggressively trying to sell items and, from the few that managed to stop us, it seemed like everyone had the same things for sale.

Just outside the market, several wood carvers were working on various pieces and selling them.  We spoke to the man in the photos and his prices seemed quite fair.  Unfortunately, we were worried about the weight of our luggage for the flight home in a couple of weeks.

One person commented about Nassau being Paradise but I didn't get that impression.  My wife and I wandered along the main streets and noticed that  nearly every building had security guards.  McDonald's had at least two guards standing outside their establishment.  A liquor store had guards and customers had to be buzzed in.  It was interesting that all the visible security made us feel less safe!

Feel free to share today's photos with family and friends.
