Fog 4

Fog 4

Cape Spear is located on the Avalon Peninsula and is know as the easternmost point of Canada and continental North America.  However, if the technical definition of longitude is used, the most easternmost point Ponchoi Point in Alaska, since that state actually stretches into the eastern hemisphere.

I have visited Cape Spear many times and on a few occasions it was a beautiful sunny day when all of a sudden the fog started to roll in very quickly, bringing with it very cool air.  You can see why this location was chosen for a lighthouse - the high cliffs, near St. John's Harbour, near shipping lanes, and LOTS of fog.
