This morning I am sharing more photos taken at the same river/waterfall in Holyrood that I shared photos of yesterday. Today's images are closer views of the water rushing over the rocks in that particular river.
When you photograph rapids or waterfalls in a river, the water is usually moving fairly quickly and causes the water to look "silky" because it is moving past the camera as you take the photo. If you have control over your shutter speed, you can lower it to emphasize the motion. I have shot some rapids at 1/30 and 1/15 sec to create this type of image. You have to be careful not to move the camera very much - a tripod would be useful to help keep your camera steady.
