Sunrise

This is a good time of the year to photograph sunrises in this part of the world because the sun comes up a later - around 6:30.  Over the next few weeks it will rise a little later each day.  My new house is surrounded by trees so I haven't made many photos of the sunrises here for the past 6 years.  Today's photos were taken in September, 2004. 

I may have mentioned some time ago about a person travelling on a cruise ship who, after seeing clouds on the horizon, said that the sunrise wasn't going to be very good.  I encouraged him to stay because clouds emphasize how colours change as the sun rises making it excellent for photos.  He decided to stay and expressed how beautiful it was and that I was right.

You can see that on the morning took these photos, the colours of the sky and clouds changed dramatically as the sun rose.  It was a brighter orange in the direction of the sun and a redder colour a little further north - away from the sun.


Even if you don't like to make photographs of sunrises, I encourage you to get out and experience the peace and beauty that is free for the taking.
