Ravenna 6

Ravenna 6

This is the last post in the Ravenna series for now. I do have photos of the inside of two churches and the mosaics and artwork that date back to the middle of the first century and will share them at a later date.

Today's photos show sculptures, bicyclists, street scenes, arches and a close view of the cobblestone streets in the older section of the city. The arches were taken through the iron gates of a convent next to Dante's tomb.

Even though there were several busloads of tourists from our cruise ship, Ravenna was the city with the fewest number of tourists. Of course, the churches were busy because of the architecture and Byzantine mosaics, but the streets were not as busy as the other cities we visited.

Photos of the Day are for sale as stock photographs
and photographic enlargements.
They can also be purchased as slide shows
and/or wallpapers/screensavers.
