Working in the Garden

In case any of you missed it in a previous post, Ross Farm is located on Highway 12 in New Ross, Nova Scotia, approximately a one hour drive from Halifax.

When I saw two women working in a small garden I walked towards them making photos, The first image shows a wide view of Rose Bank Cottage (the original home of the Ross family), a garden and a road that leads to other parts of the farm. I walked down the road and made closer views with different buildings in the background.

You may notice that their potatoes look rather small. The lady told me the stalks were being eaten by potato beetles. If there is a crop failure this year it wouldn't make much of an impact, but imagine 150 years ago - it would probably mean a long hungry winter without potatoes
