I had never seen a bird take up residence in a flower pot before this year's trip to Florida. The small dove in today's photos has done just that! The flower pot is hanging in a tree between two homes and just outside the main door of one of them.
I took these photos with my 70-300 mm lens and was standing around 5 feet away from the bird.
This could be a mourning or turtle dove, both of which are fairly skittish when you approach them. That is why I was surprised to see it nesting so close to people.
