Placentia
In 1997, the anniversary of the discovery of Newfoundland by John Cabot, The Matthew visited Placentia and I went there to take photos. I am sharing a few this morning that show the crowd that was there.
1997 was the 500th anniversary of John Cabot's discovery and a replica of The Matthew sailed from Bristol England to Bonavista. There were media from all over and as the ship sailed around the province, it made stops where people celebrated.
