Ephesus, Turkey 2

Ephesus, Turkey 2
If I remember correctly, the part of the ancient city of Ephesus shown in today's photos were taken in the part built by the Romans and was the entrance to the much older part. Even though we had radio receivers and our guide was very knowledgeable, he gave us so much information that I don't remember most of it. Of course, I was distracted because I used to wander to the limits of his radio transmitter making photos and wishing I could explore the area on my own.

As archaeologists find pieces of columns, they put them back together, much like a giant 3D puzzle. As you view the photos on my Blog, imagine that it is your job to put the columns and buildings back together. Quite an undertaking.

Rebuilding the city of Ephesus is a huge and expensive undertaking which is funded by tourist dollars as well as donations from foreign governments, especially Austria.
