Ephesus, Turkey

Ephesus, Turkey

One of our destinations on a Greek Island Cruise was Kusadasai, Turkey, where we did an excursion to Mary's House and Ephesus. I started a new album in which I will share the photos taken at the Ephesus Archeological Site which reflects classical Greek and Roman history! The site is still being developed.

If you are interested in ancient cities and archeological sites, you may enjoy the photos I took! You can follow the album on my Travel Page here - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1172247654588668&type=3

Bodrum, Turkey

Bodrum, Turkey

This morning, I started my second album of photos taken in Bodrum, Turkey during a visit in September 2012. To be honest, I never really thought of visiting Turkey, but one of our cruises included two different ports in Turkey (Kusadasi and Bodrum) and I was impressed with both places. The scenery was beautiful, the people were friendly and most people we met spoke English.

I have provided links to both Bodrum Albums below:

Bodrum

Bodrum

On one of our cruises, we visited Bodrum Turkey. The ship docked and we walked into the town and I took photos along the way. There were a few people around on the way into town but there were lots when we got into the community. I'll share the photos I took over the next few days!

Considering that Turkey is a Muslim country, I was surprised that Bodrum was so "liberal". You will understand what I mean when you see the photos.

Turkey 8

Turkey 8

Kusadasi was not the last port of call on our last vacation, but it is the last series of photos that I will share. Today's photos include a couple of images of the sunrise as we approached Turkey for the first time. The photos of Kusadasi were taken after we arrived back on the ship after being ashore for nearly 7 hours.

We arrived back in Newfoundland on October 6 and since then I have been sharing photos of the fifteen ports of call during two Mediterranean Cruises with Royal Caribbean International. Needless to say that we enjoyed our trip to Europe and Asia immensely and I hope you have enjoyed seeing photos of the places we visited. Several people on my list have enjoyed the photos so much that they are planning to take Mediterranean cruises. In fact, yesterday I heard from one couple who are leaving for a cruise in a little over a month.

Since I started sharing the most recent travel photos, a few people said they missed images of Newfoundland and Labrador and wanted to know when I would be finished sharing photos of my travels. Because of those emails I started sharing a Newfoundland and Labrador Link of the Day where I shared a photo with a link to one gallery on my web site. I checked my web site statistics a few times since then and most of the Galleries received visitors because of those links.

Ephesus, Turkey 7

Ephesus, Turkey 7

Today I have uploaded the last images taken during a short presentation with Cleopatra, Roman Senators, Egyptian dancers and gladiators. I found the 7 minute presentation interesting and it gave a hint of what it was like when Cleopatra visited Ephesus 2,000 years ago.

What I couldn't understand were the tourists who walked across the path of the actors as they entered the area and those who were sitting in "Cleopatra's" throne getting their pictures taken despite the fact that actors were approaching and several announcements in different languages on the PA system requesting that they move. Some people think that the rules don't apply to them!
