Icebergs

A person on Facebook commented that Newfoundland and Labrador is one of the most beautiful places on Earth and I would have to agree. I have visited many beautiful places, but have to admit that this part of the world has a rugged beauty that is unique. While we live in a "wild" and natural land, visitors always add that the people here are very friendly and go out of their way to be helpful to strangers. Most visitors say they will return for future visits.
This morning I am sharing a few images of large pieces of ice being hoisted on board the boat. I was in the smaller boat with the guys who "netted" the ice and was able to capture a few images which show you how big some of the pieces that fall of the iceberg really are. Note how much the boat is weighed down on one side by the ice. The skipper finally gave up on this piece because he was worried the boat could capsize. Rather than release it, the men got axes and chopped pieces off until he could get it on board safely.
The last few shots were taken as we left the bergs and headed back to the dock in Foxtrap.
