Saint Nicholas Cathedral 2
Today I am continuing with photos taken in Saint Nicholas Cathedral, Monaco. The first shows a stained glass window, the second a statue and the third a painting which represent three forms of art on display in this church.
When I saw the statue of a Roman soldier I was a little surprised because it was the first time I had seen such a statue in a church. I am not sure of the significance of this statue in terms of Christianity even though I actually took a tour through this cathedral. As I said yesterday, the guide went through the church so fast that I didn't have time to make the photos I would have liked. In addition, the sound system she was using wasn't very good and I could barely hear her most of the time. One person emailed to let me know that she nearly lost her tour group in a similar situation because she was taking photos. The problem with losing your group is that you are on your own in a foreign country where you don't speak the language. It is then your responsibility to find your way back to the cruise ship. One lady from Alaska actually got lost on that tour and she barely made it back to the cruise ship in time.
