When my boys were attending Holy Cross Elementary in the 1980s, I photographed the school concerts. The principal used to reserve a seat for me in the front row and I photographed entire concerts, not just the skits or songs that my kids were in. These kids are in their 40s now. :)

On a cold evening in the late 1970s, I happened to drive by a raging fire in the Alteen's Jewelry store on High Street in Grand Falls. I photographed the firefighters as they tried to control the blaze.
In those days, I carried 2 camera bodies - one loaded with colour slide film and the other with b&w. I shot the photos in black and white because I thought they may get published in the Advertiser. However, unlike today, there were no instant results. I had to deliver the film to be developed and printed and wait for the job to be completed. I believe they did publish a few of them even though there was a bit of a delay.

There have been great egrets sighted on the island of Newfoundland many times over the past few years. It always surprises me when birds I normally photograph in Florida show up here. In fact one was photographed here yesterday, which is late in the year for these birds. I hope it decides to fly south soon because it may not survive the winter here!

I recently scanned a few slides of moose that I took in 2000 not far from my house in Holyrood. I started a NEW Moose Album and will add to it for a few days.
To be honest, until recently, I haven't seen a moose in my yard for over a year, though they get captured at night on my Trail Cam, so I know they are around.

Most years, I can photograph seals in Holyrood Harbour, especially around the marina when there is a bit of ice. Imagine, getting out of the icy water to relax and sunbathe on the ice. They must really be protected from the cold with their fat and fur!
