When I took these photos of The Battery in St. John's, I thought there wouldn't be much contrast because I was shooting all the way across the harbour and the houses looked fairly small among all the white snow. However, when I zoomed in the colourful houses became more visible in the scene. I have photographed The Battery a few times in summer and winter and will share a few summer shots later.
If you are wondering if there are small avalanches here because of the steep cliffs on which the town is built, you would be correct, however, they are more rare than one would expect.
