Highland Village 11

Highland Village 11

As you know, Nova Scotia means New Scotland, and this is where many Scots landed in the New World to start new lives.  Highland Village has a replica of a stone house, the type people lived in before they left to come here.

As you can see, the house is made of rocks and sods.  When I entered the dwelling, I was surprised that it was as big as it seemed.  Today's photos show the outside and inside of this building.  Of course, there was a character who told us about her life in Scotland and her fears about heading to the New World.

As you look at the inside photos, imagine living there with your family, and in winter, your farm animals.  People slept on the floor near the fire.  They had a hard life!

Feel free to share with family and friends.
