Blue-winged Teal 2

     
It is always exciting when I photograph a "new" species of bird that I had never seen before and when I spotted a few small ducks in a small pond, I just had to make a few photos before they flew away.  At first I thought they were ring-necked ducks, but when I looked more closely I realized they were a new species for me.

I watched these small ducks for quite a while and was able to predict when they would stand in the water and flap their wings.
