Monaco/Monte Carlo

Monaco/Monte Carlo

According to our tour guide, in order to become a resident of Monte Carlo you would have to deposit a minimum of $1,000,000 in one of the banks there. The first photo this morning shows part of Monaco and a large marina. Since you would have to be rich to live in this city state, owning a large yacht wouldn't be a problem. I noticed several very large boats - too big for the marina shown here - anchored just off shore.

A cannon just outside Prince Albert's Palace is pointed out over the city. Of course, this is a reflection of the history of the area and it is doubtful that they would have to defend the city these days. In fact our guide said that there is no crime there.

The Grand Casino is reflected in a large mirror across the street. This casino was featured in two James Bond films and was the model for a casino in another. Part of our tour was entrance to the casino where we could see the beautiful architecture inside and gamble if we wished. Unfortunately, I had to leave my cameras at the entrance because there is no photography allowed inside the gaming rooms.

Photos of the Day are for sale as stock photographs
and photographic enlargements.
They can also be purchased as slide shows
and/or wallpapers/screensavers.
