The two photos show calcite crystals in rock. These samples are from the west coast of Newfoundland and were given to me by a member of my Photo of the Day list. She was visiting this province on a field trip and made arrangements to drop them off in Deer Lake for me. I picked them up when I was there visiting a friend.
I took the photos without a flash in front of my living room window.
