Lavender

Lavender

My wife bought a lavender plant many years ago and it grew well in my flower garden. However, a few years ago, i dug it up because it was full of weeds. I planned to divide it, but I composted it instead. Three years ago, I purchased another lavender plant and love the aroma of flowers and leaves. Garden 2

Garden 2August 16, 2015

The first few photos show small blooms of lavender, a plant that grows well in one of my flower gardens. My wife purchased a tiny lavender plant five or six years ago and it has become quite large. I am planning to take a piece of it and move to a new garden I am currently building. If anyone has tried replanting a piece of a larger plant, I am interested to find out if you were successful or not.

It is hard to get crisp images of bees on these flowers because they move from one to another very quickly. The aroma from these flowers is very strong and I can smell them from quite a distance.

I included other photos of flowers today including the pearly everlasting, golden marguerite and hosta.

I noticed that a few of you Liked my Facebook page yesterday. Thanks for showing an interest in seeing more of my photos. In case you missed the links I am including them again today.

Flowers

My Opening Photos Series was both interesting and productive for me. It gave me an opportunity to go through some older photos in my collection and in the process, I updated all three Opening Photos Galleries. The photos are now larger, the pages redesigned, and the links fixed or updated. Until I started the series, I didn't realize how many broken links there were. I assume it happened after a couple of server crashes and I didn't pick it up. If any of you are ever on my site and notice broken links, feel free to let me know. In the meantime, if you are interested in seeing the Galleries follow this link and you will be taken to the most recent where you will find links to the other two. http://www.lanephotography.com/previous/previous_03.htm

For the next couple of days I plan to share a few photos I've been taking around my yard in the past week or two. We are enjoying the beautiful weather this summer - the best weather we have had for several years.

The first photo shows a wave petunia, very colourful and prolific bloomers. I was following a bee that visited the lavender flowers in one of my gardens. You will have to be fast to capture bees in flight. Only one day lily plant grew this year and it produced two beautiful yellow blooms.
