Gone Forever 5

Today, I chose photos of buildings in Conception Bay South that are probably gone by now.  However, though I know the towns in which the photos were taken in 1997, I don't remember exactly where they were located.  If anyone knows for a fact that these buildings are gone, please let me know.

Barns, Conception Bay South

Today's images were scanned from slides taken in 1988. I believe the barns and old house in the photos were located in Conception Bay South. If anyone knows for certain, let me know. Thanks in advance.

The beginning of the new year also marks the anniversary of my email version of Photo of the Day. Today marks the beginning of the fourteenth year of sharing photos by email. I began by sharing one photo with a short comment each morning and it has evolved to the present format with 3 photos with a link to my Photo of the Day Blog where I usually upload five or more images. It has really become a Photo Essay of the Day.

As you can see, I am "connected" to the world and people have the opportunity to view my images in a number of different ways. It has become more and more time-consuming, but I am retired so I have the time. :)

All photos taken today were taken in Conception Bay South and, as far as I know, are now gone.  If not totally gone, they have changed so much that the photos can now be considered unique. The only ones I am not certain of are the red barn and red shed above the root cellar (photos 3, 4 and 5 above).

The yellowish house in the photos 6 and 7 is definitely gone.  I drove by it many times and one day I stopped to make a couple of photos.  Next time I drove by, the house was gone completely.  Now it has been replaced by a more modern home.

The large barn disappeared a year or so after I took these photos.  It was still being used when I made this photo in 2001.


The property with several orange buildings has changed - some of the outbuildings are gone and the house has been painted a more neutral colour.

Boats and Stages 14

Today's photos were taken in different locations around the Avalon Peninsula including: Flatrock, Brigus, Holyrood, Conception Bay South and Dildo.

I am not sure if you are tiring of this series, but I plan to finish it tomorrow and move on to something different for a while.  I will return to another Boats series again - maybe next winter or Spring.
