Several years ago, a friend gave me a laburnum and I planted it in my backyard. It had a hard time initially and I often found it flat on the ground. I staked it and tied it to other trees, but it still fell over. Finally, I decided to leave it alone and it did much better. It still leans in one direction, but produces flowers and grows more every year!
