Red-Bellied Woodpecker

Red-Bellied Woodpecker

Woodpeckers are usually hard to photograph because they are skittish and tend to hang out in the forest where they are hard to spot among the trees. I have had some success near my home in Holyrood and in a few cases where they were visiting bird feeders.

This red-bellied woodpecker was photographed at the Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary near Naples, Florida. I was lucky to capture a few photos as it attempted to get seeds from a feeder. I also got a few as it looked for food on a nearby tree.

Feel free to share today's photos with family and friends.
