Droghedea 2

Droghedea 2

If you enjoy viewing objects from the past, you will enjoy the rest of the photos in this series.

Today's photos show the inside of Droghedea Historical Farmhouse. When I first visited my grandparents' home in the early 1950s, they had no electricity or running water. There were large pots in bedrooms where you could use during the night and a double seater outhouse in the yard. They had a stove similar to the one in photos uploaded to my Blog and a daybed in the kitchen. I think I remember kerosene lamps and large kettles on the stove as well. Maybe some of my relatives will remember more ... :)

Feel free to share today's photos with family and friends.

Droghedea

Droghedea

In 2003 I was exploring some of the side streets in Clarke's Beach, Conception Bay and came across Droghedea Historical Farmhouse. I was curious and walked into the yard and made images of the outside of the house, the inside of a barn and an outhouse.

As I made the photos I noticed that the door was open so I went inside and was excited to see that every room in the house was decorated as it was 50 or more years ago.

I had my tripod and decided to make photos of the "antiques". Over the next few days I plan to share images of the rooms which will include close views of many antiques. I remember seeing many of these things when I visited my grandparents in the 1950s. Hopefully many of you will also remember the items and the photos will evoke positive memories.

Bay Roberts 3

Bay Roberts 3

Today I am sharing 13 photos of houses in Bay Roberts.  As I drive along, if I see a house that attracts my attention I usually stop and make a photograph of it.  In most cases I make photos of older style homes but occasionally I will photograph a newer home.

The decorative mouldings, shutters and door on the house in the second last photo  caught my attention and I made a few images of it.  I also increased the saturation making the colours much brighter.

Bay Roberts 2

Bay Roberts 2

I stopped to photograph an abandoned house in Bay Roberts and the neighbour opened the door and let me take a couple of photos. These photos were taken in 2003 and I am not sure if the house is still standing.

Bay Roberts

Bay Roberts

For the next few days I plan to share photos taken in the Town of Bay Roberts, Conception Bay in September 2003.

Bay Robert's is a fairly large town with a population of around 10,000. I have been there many times and have lots of photos, many of which are slides that I haven't scanned yet. I've already shared several photos of the scenic Shoreline Heritage Walk and will concentrate on other parts of the community for this series.

Today you will view photos of the marina, a rusty old ship that had been abandoned, houses and interesting artwork on the cliffs.

Feel free to share today's photos with family and friends.
