Cavendish

Cavendish is a small town located in Trinity Bay South.  The colourful little sheds are an attraction in the town and many people have photographed them.  In recent years, people are painting houses and outbuildings with very bright colours.

The photos I am sharing today were taken in Cavendish in 2003 and 2014.  The colourful little sheds are very photogenic and many people have shared photos of them online.  I remember driving through the community back in the early 1960s and there were many fishing stages where those little buildings are now.  I'd like to see a photo to see if my memories are correct.  :)

I don't have an album yet but have made a note to start one soon.

I imagine that any photographer who has passed through Cavendish in recent years has stopped to take a photo of the three colourful sheds on the beach.  I have stopped there a couple of times myself!

I notice that sheds and fish stores have been painted in bright colours in several communities around the province.

Cavendish

Cavendish is located in Trinity Bay South along the Baccalieu Trail.

Like all communities along the Baccalieu Trail, Cavendish is certainly worth taking a few photos, especially the colourful fish "stores" on the beach.  When I photographed the community in 2003, these were not colourful at all, but since they have been fixed up (or rebuilt) and painted with bright colours, many people stop to make photos. 

I remember driving through this community in the early sixties and seeing all the fish flakes along the beach.  I didn't get a photo then (I was only a preteen at the time.) but I am sure there are some around.
