Old Houses and Outbuildings

Today, I started my 20th album featuring photos of old houses and outbuildings in Newfoundland and Labrador.

When I purchased my first 35 mm camera in 1970, I started taking pictures of old and abandoned houses. I figured that the photos would become more valuable over time. Often, the houses would be torn down and my pictures were probably the last ever taken. Others were renovated and I usually took new pictures if I noticed it. I continued to photograph houses over the years and have a large collection that I enjoy sharing on Facebook!

I can provide links to other albums on request.

Assumption Church, Avondale

The first time I was inside this church was with Roncalli School (I was a substitute teacher) in 1982, and I took a few pictures of the celebration that I will share at the end of my NEW album featuring the photos I have taken of this beautiful church. In 2002, I walked inside the building and took pictures without disturbing anyone.

Photo of the Day

I started my Photo of the Day for family and friends on January 1, 2023, and it quickly grew to more than 750 people. But, because of the high numbers of recipients, email servers began to suspect that I  was sending SPAM and my emails began to get rejected. I wondered why I was bothering each day. I created a Blog in 2006 and reproduced my Photo of the Day there and to date I have 5885 Blog entries that are accessible by anyone who happens to stop by. A few years ago, I moved my Photo of the Day to my main Facebook Page and have been adding monthly albums featuring 1 photo a day.

To be honest, I was planning to stop sharing daily Photo of the Day, but after 1 day, I realized I miss it. Even if no one else is interested, it has become part of my daily routine and only takes a few minutes and is part of my being! So, here starts the beginning of my 21st year of sharing things that I have experienced.

I chose to share only 1 photo today and chose this image because the seagull saw me and slowed down to take a look! Many humans tend to think that birds and other animals do not think, but I have found that birds and animals are smarter than we give them credit for. Photography helps me see them in a different way!
