Waves

Waves

This evening I am sharing photos of waves from a photoshoot in Trinity Bay several years ago.  I have uploaded a few here and will add the rest of them to my new Facebook Album.  There are no problems getting photos of crashing waves around the island of Newfoundland.

You can find my waves album here - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=kbrucelane&set=a.10161668772115329

Waves

Waves

In 2004, I stopped near New Melbourne in Trinity Bay to photograph the waves breaking on the rocky shoreline.  It was an overcast day, but the colours in the waves were amazing.  I enjoy sitting by the ocean taking photos of the sea, especially when there are great waves!

Waves - Flatrock 3

Waves - Flatrock 3

Today's photos were taken of waves in Flatrock on March 27, 2005 during high waves.
As you have seen over the past 3 days, the waves were huge.

When I see large waves like this I think of the power of water to erode the cliffs and it reminds me of a poem by Newfoundland poet, E. J. Pratt:

Erosion

It took the sea a thousand years,
A thousand years to trace
The granite features of this cliff
In crag and scarp and base

It took the sea an hour one night,
An hour of storm to place
The sculpture of these granite seams
Upon a woman's face.
