Dew 2

Dew 2

This is Day 2 of the Dew images I made a week or so ago in my yard.  This time of the year, there is a heavy dew (soon to be heavy frost  suspect) and once the sun rises high enough, there are lots of photo ops just outside my door.

Dew

Dew

Today's photos were taken on September 25, 2016.  It was a beautiful clear morning and sunlight was refracting through water drops that had formed on various plants during the cool night.  I made several images of dew drops on the leaves and thought I’d share a few of the interesting images.

Shapes and Textures

Shapes and Textures

Quite often, as I look for photos, I see many subjects that fall under the category of Shapes and Textures. For the next few days, I plan to upload 10 images per day and ask you to view each image and see how everyday objects actually make interesting photos, especially if the photographer uses an unusual angle. Water drops, siding, flowers, icicles, and water are the subjects of today's photos.

Feel free to share today's photos with family and friends.

Water Drops 2

Thanks for the comments you shared yesterday, especially those related to the broccoli. This morning I chose more images of water drops on broccoli leaves to share with you.

You will see this morning that the depth of field is affected by zooming close to the subject - the wider the view - the greater the depth of field, which refers to the portion of the scene that is in focus. Even though the photos show water drops, the closer views look like ice, which we may have soon since there were frost warnings in some parts of our province last night.

Water Drops

A couple of mornings ago I photographed water drops on broccoli leaves in my yard. All the broccoli plants grew but they didn't produce much broccoli - as the heads started to form, they also produced lots of yellow flowers. I started cutting the broccoli heads as soon as they formed, but that didn't help either. A local farmer said it may have been the seed and that it used to happen to his broccoli until he started buying seed outside the province.

You can see that the broccoli leaves are starting to change colour - another sign that Fall is just around the corner. Once again, these photos were taken with my new 70-300 mm lens which allowed me to get close views from a standing position.
