I took most of the pictures in Bonita Springs, Florida, so many may be red-shouldered hawks. If you see a different type of hawk in the pictures, feel free to let me know.

This morning I finished uploading photos to my Hawks 2 album and I finished with a sequence I took in Florida in March 2019. I was walking along when I heard a Hawk calling loudly, I turned around and saw it atop a nearby tree.  I started to take photos when another hawk attacked it. They fought in the air and both fell to the ground before breaking it off. It was an exciting moment for me and I took several photos throughout the incident. I have never seen this before or after that time. :)

I have gotten pretty good at identifying birds, but the I find it hard to identify some hawks.  Does anyone know what type of hawk this is?

 

I photographed this one in the early morning in Florida in December, 2009.  I was able to get fairly close, especially with my 70-300 mm lens, and make a few images before it flew away.

I think I can recognize a red-shouldered hawk, however there are other hawks residing in Citrus Park and I find it difficult to identify them. Today's photos were taken on different days and I think they are red-shouldered hawks.

Swallow-Tailed Kite

Swallow-Tailed Kite

 

I have photographed swallow-tailed kites during trips to Florida.  This one flew out of an orange orchard then circled above me a couple of times before disappearing again.  I was lucky to capture a few good images of this bird in flight during the minute or so that it was close by.
