For the past 10 days, I have been sharing photos taken at the Remembrance Day Ceremony in Holyrood 20 years ago. I was only a young man of 53 back then. I enjoyed going through the photos and, from the reaction of viewers, so did others.

If you are following this series, you already know that I have been sharing photos from the Remembrance Day Ceremony from 2002. I know 3 people in these photos that have passed since then: Tom McCarthy, Tom Hedderson, and Dennis Walsh. There may be others that I am not aware of.

Remembrance Day 2002










Remembrance Day 2002

Today, I started my second album featuring photos taken 20 years ago at the Remembrance Day Parade and Ceremony in Holyrood. I will finish the album on Remembrance Day this year. Things sure change in 20 years - several people in the photos in both albums have passed, little kids are adults, and we have all gotten older.

Remembrance Day 2002










Remembrance Day 2002

The parade started and I followed it to the Star of the Sea in Holyrood and continued to take photos of the Ceremony there. Back in 1981, I did a photo essay of veterans on parade in St. John's and rather than call it Lest We Forget, I called it Those Who Remember.

The parade began to form and I took a few photos as they got ready to march. The kids seemed excited for the parade to start.

Remembrance Day 2002

The photos I have been sharing for a few days were taken as people were preparing for the Remembrance Day Parade in Holyrood in 2002. In the 20 years that have passed, several people in the photos are no longer with us, the kids are now in their 20s and 30s, and, of course, people have grown older.
