We have many red squirrels living in the forest around our house and a few visit my squirrel feeders every day. One feeder is actually a bird feeder that was designed to keep squirrels out, but we leave the top off so squirrels can reach down and get seeds and/or peanuts. We did that because otherwise, bluejays will eat everything we leave for squirrels. The other feeder was built by a neighbour and is designed to keep bluejays away from the peanuts we put there.
Many people don't like having squirrels around, but we enjoy watching and feeding them. Most will take peanuts from our hands - which is always fun.
