Stained Glass Windows

Stained Glass Windows
Immaculate Conception Cathedral
Grand Falls-Windsor

I photograph churches wherever I go and, when they are present, I also photograph stained glass windows. For the next few days I plan to share stained glass windows in Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Grand Falls-Windsor.

If you check my Blog you will see a wide shot of a large window, then closer views. Keep in mind that each window tells a story from the Bible. I am not sure who created the windows in this church, but each is a work of art.

Iceberg

Iceberg
1988

Today's photos were taken at in Conception Bay near Port de Grave in the spring of 1988. I have uploaded 14 photos of this berg taken over a period of a few weeks.

I am still scanning slides from 1988 so I may come across more photos of this huge iceberg. When I do, I'll share them with you.

Western Brook Park

Western Brook Park
1988

Today's photos were taken at Western Brook Provincial Park on the Great Northern Peninsula in 1988.

If you have never been there., I recommend you add it to your list of places to visit in Newfoundland and Labrador. A long, sandy beach separates Western Brook (don't be fooled by the name, it is a fairly big river) from the Gulf of St. Lawrence. There are large sand dunes with a variety of plants growing in the sandy soil. As well you will find a variety of driftwood that has washed up on the shore.

Take the time to walk along the beach and enjoy the fresh air blowing off the ocean.

The Arches

The Arches

Today's photos were taken at The Arches Provincial Park on the Great Northern Peninsula in 1993. I've shared photos of The Arches before, but these were taken on Kodachrome slide film so I thought I'd shre them with you today.

To be honest, I don't see any difference in the rock formations, however, there have been improvements to the park since that time.

If you are wondering about the person in the photos, that is a videographer who was shooting high quality video of the interesting rock formations.
