Veterans 2
Thanks for the comments on yesterday's photos of Veterans. One person commented on the look in the eyes of the Veterans. Many years ago I noticed that most Veterans' eyes filled up during the playing of the Last Post and moment of silence. I always try to take as many photos as possible during that time. Look closely at the eyes of Veterans in the photos I am sharing over the next few days. I can only guess at the memories that they have as they remember their experience of war.
The news continues to report injured Veterans' protests against the Federal Government about delays and red tape regarding disability payments and benefits. As I stated yesterday, I feel this is ridiculous and that government officials should be ashamed of themselves. Just a few months ago our Federal Government spent over a billion dollars for security at the G8 and G20 meetings, including a $2 000 000 pavilion with a "fake lake" so visitors could get a feel for what Canada has to offer tourists. Personally, I feel a fake lake was a waste of taxpayers money. One has to question priorities of a government who treats our Veterans with disrespect, yet don't mind wasting money on such things.
