Seascapes 7

This morning's photos were scanned from slides that show peaceful scenes near the sea. Thanks for the positive comments regarding the Hawaiian sunsets I shared yesterday. I plan to continue this series for a few more days, so I hope you are not tiring of images of the sea.

In Ship Cove, Conception Bay some houses are very close to the steep cliffs and I have photographed them numerous times. The first image shows a fairly calm sea with ice and snow covering the cliffs. You can see a few houses on the cliffs in the top left of the photo in this winter scene.

The second photo was taken in Leading Tickles, Notre Dame Bay in the late 70s. I shot directly into the sun which resulted in a rather dark, but interesting image of the harbour. To be honest, this photo has always been a favourite of mine.

In 1981, I photographed the Anglican Church in St. Philip's, Conception Bay with Bell Island in the background. This photo was taken when the church was still being used. There is an ongoing dispute regarding the future of this building. Church leaders want it to be demolished because it is considered unsafe and would cost too much to be repaired, but a group in the community wants to preserve the historical building. Last year, someone cut off the steeple and let it tumble to the ground causing quite a bit of damage. It is unfortunate that people in the community can't resolve the issue because the building continues to deteriorate while people continue to argue.

The fourth photo was taken in Portugal Cove the same say as I took the photo of St. Philip's. It was a beautiful clear day with just a few clouds. The last photo this morning was taken in Leading Tickles and shows the steep cliffs that are near this tiny community.

All Photos of the Day are for sale as stock photographs and photographic enlargements. They can also be purchased as slide shows and/orwallpapers/screensavers.
