January 21

January 21

Today's selection of photos from January 21 includes river otters, birds, flowers and alligators.  I see all these as I walked around the park in the morning or drove around in the afternoon.

I am not sure how many of the residents actually see these photographic subjects or do they take them for granted.  I usually have my camera with me when I am in the park.  Once, I was headed to the clubhouse with garbage and left my camera.  On the way, I saw 2 osprey flying together, both with large fish in their talons.  I don't think I ever left it again no matter where I was going!

January 20

January 20

January is probably Florida's coolest month.  To be honest, we had a few days that were cool en to turn on the heat in the early morning, but most days by noon it warmed up a lot.  I wore a fleece or jacket a few mornings when I walked.  It is very cool when driving a golf cart on those days, but generally, the weather is in the 70s and 80s that time of the year.

Once again, I am sharing the things I saw.  I am sure that many of you notice the beauty around the park but don't have a camera with you all the time like I do.

If you would like to view today's album on Facebook it is here:

January 19

January 19

Since I was only in Bonita Terra once on January 19, I don't have many photos for that day.  However, I can assure you that I saw lots of birds that day including cormorants, mockingbirds, great egrets, great blue herons, cattle egrets, and doves.  I also photographed an otter and a dead wood stork.

As we proceed through the daily virtual tour of Bonita Terra, you are seeing what I saw each day.  I know most people in the park see the same things, but many of you don't have cameras or aren't interested in taking photos.  Since I love taking pictures as I wander around the park, I can share the beauty I see with all of you.

I have created an album for January 19 on my Travel Page - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=kbrucelanetravel&set=a.1710496985789929

January 18

January 18

I hope you are enjoying the photos that I am sharing from Bonita Terra in SW Florida.  As usual, I photographed many species of birds among other subjects.

A few years ago, a person in the park stopped to compliment me on the photos I had posted.  He said that I captured things that most residents miss.  I am not sure how many people take the time to observe the wildlife and plant life in the park.  If I were there this year, I am certain I would continue to do the same even though I have many photos of most species already.  For me it is fun!!

You can view the photos I have selected in the album I created for today's images.

January 17

January 17

The year we rented from mid-January was actually pretty cool in the mornings.  In fact one morning, it was colder in Bonita Terra than home in Holyrood.  However, by mid-morning, it had warmed up to 20°C (70°F).

My day in Bonita Terra begins with a 1-1.5 hour walk around the park.  I usually carry my camera and am prepared to take photos of the wildlife that I might see.  Afterward, I do chores and errands.  Afternoons are usually times to drive around in my golf cart looking for photos.  Birds are common and on January 17, I photographed great egrets, ducks, osprey and cormorants.

Since all the photos for that day are included here, I haven't added a link to the album.

January 16

January 16

Yesterday, I actually uploaded photos of January 16, so I am adding today's photos to that album.

After 7 winters in Bonita Terra, formerly known as Citrus Park, I don't photograph sunrises unless they look spectacular from the unit I am renting. When I looked out that morning, I walked to Turtle Pond to take photos of that beautiful sunrise.  I am glad I did.

One year I was on 4th street which was a good distance from Turtle Pond, so I didn't get many sunrise photos that year.  I like photographing sunrises at Turtle Pond because there are few wires and utility poles around.  As well, I like the reflections in the pond.

As I walk around the park, I photograph birds, lizards, butterflies, flowers and plants.  On January 16, 2019, I was lucky to spot a downy woodpecker and get a couple of photos before it flew away.
