Elliston

Elliston

Elliston is located in Trinity Bay North along the Bonavista Peninsula.  Other than being the Root Cellar Capital of the World and having a thriving Atlantic puffin colony, it has fantastic seascapes.  The photos I am sharing today were taken in and around the scenic community.

American Robin

American Robin

Robins, at least the ones I see around here, are skittish and it is difficult to get close to them.  To capture the photos I am sharing today, I sat in my shed and waited for one to land close by.  When it did, I crawled out and laid on the grass and, because the robins didn't fly away, I was able to capture a few shots I liked.

Ruffed Grouse

Ruffed Grouse

There have been grouse living around my property in Holyrood for years.  Occasionally, I will see one running into the trees along the trail between the two houses or high up in a birch tree.  However, it is difficult to get photos of them because they are very skittish.

I took these photos from my car because I spotted it on the side of the highway and I pulled over to get a few shots before it disappeared into the brush!

The Doctor's House

The Doctor's House

In May 2016, my dad took me to the Doctor's House to see it.  We parked and I walked around the outside of the house taking pictures.  When I back to the parking lot I entered a small building and asked if it were possible to photograph the inside.  I was told that I wasn't even supposed to be on the property if I weren't a guest, so I left.  I have seen photos of the inside on line and it is very beautiful.

I know it has a good reputation as a place to stay and eat!

Daffodils

Daffodils

This morning I "landed" on my daffodils folder and, even though it is the wrong season for these beautiful early spring bloomers, I decided to share a few photos of them adding beauty to my yard.  You can view my Daffodils Album on my Flowers and Plants page:

Humpback Whale

Humpback Whale

In 2005, I was on a whale and puffin tour out of Bauline East and saw two whales together - possibly a mother and calf.  Both gave us an exciting show.  The calf jumped out of the water just feet from the boat and splashed us.  It continued to slap its flukes on the water for several minutes.
