Seagulls

Seagulls

I have always enjoyed photographing seagulls.  They look so majestic as they fly with their brilliant white feathers against the deep blue sky.  When shooting seagulls (with a camera) in flight, I rend to get a lot of out of focus shots, however, this seagull was looking for french fries and actually stopped in the air to have a look.

If you enjoy photos of seagulls, you can view my Facebook album:

Highbush Cranberries

Highbush Cranberries

There are several highbush cranberry trees in my yard and I try to photograph them as they grow.  Apparently, they are edible, but I have tried them and they are quite bitter.

I just made an album with photos of its fruit.  I'll add photos of the flowers later.

Lichens

Lichens

I have been photographing lichens for many years and have learned that, here in Newfoundland, there are many species that grow on our rocky landscapes.  There is even a unique specie of lichens growing in the Hawke Hills area!

I have an album featuring many of the photos I have taken over the years.

King's Point

King's Point

In 2000, my dad and I took a trip to King's Point, located in Green Bay.  I taught there in 1971-1973 and still communicate with several students from King's Point and Rattling Brook!  It is a very scenic area and has become a tourist destination in recent years!

If you wish to see photos of students and scenic photos of the community, feel free to check my King's Point album.

Meadow Rue

Meadow Rue

Meadow rue grows in my yard and has tiny white blooms that are very delicate.  It grows to a height of 1-1.5 m (3-5 feet).

I plan to start a meadow rue album soon.

Barn

Barn

Many years ago, I was in Deer Lake for New Year's and photographed this old barn, not too far from where the Insectarium is now.  It was far back from the road and I remember getting my boots filled with snow and freezing while taking the photos.  But, it was worth it, because it was gone the next time I went to Deer Lake!

Humpback Whale Tails

Humpback Whale Tails

I photographed a humpback whale putting on a show for the tour boat I was on.  It was upside down in the ocean off Witless Bay and slapped its tail on the water over and over.  It was great for photos, but I am not sure why they do it.

This morning, I broke my Humpback Whales album into 2.  You can view Humpback Whales' Tails here:

Jim's Cove

Jim's Cove

Jim's Cove is located near Triton/Card's Harbour in Green Bay.  I always identified this community as Card's Harbour, but was told by a resident that it is actually Jim's Cove.  In many areas of the province, road signs are confusing and, as a result, I occasionally get a community wrong!  Feel free to let me know if you see one!

This morning, I started a new album in which I plan to add all the photos of Jim's Cove.  Feel free to check it out by clicking the link below!

Tulips

Tulips Tulips are a sign of spring, but my tulip gardens are under a foot or two of snow. It will be a while before we see the beauty of the...
