As the sun started to set on January 20, the shadows in my front yard grew longer and made interesting designs on the snow. The first photo shows snow that I had piled up while shovelling the driveway. The shadows in the second image are curved because of the shape of the small drift, and a bird made the designs in the snow in the third as it hopped a few times looking for food.
On Friday and Saturday, we had the biggest storm of the year that brought 40 cm (nearly a foot and a half) of powdery snow to the Avalon Peninsula. I went for a short snowshoe hike yesterday and am hoping to go a further today!
